Shortlist: House Alteration and Addition over 200 square metres
Austin Maynard Architects for Helvetia
Helvetia is the alteration and renovation of a double storey Victorian terrace in Fitzroy. Twice reconfigured, once into a boarding house, then apartments, the home was muddled, dark and battered. The challenge was to resurrect Helvetia; to create an "inner-city sanctuary" utilising one of the fundamentals of sustainability - ‘reuse’.
