Matthew Eagle

Matthew Eagle is the director and founder of architecture studio ME, and teacher at the Abedian School of Architecture at Bond University on the Gold Coast. ME is based at Jellurgal, Burleigh Heads, on the land of the Kombumerri people of the Yugambeh language group.

Matthew established ME in 2013, a studio-based architecture practice that emphasizes design, research, making and teaching as the primary areas of focus. The practice has developed a portfolio of widely published and awarded projects, and does not focus on particular project types. ME seeks to understand the cultural, ecological, societal and historical narratives of place – to make authentic, sensitive and climatically astute spaces and places.

Born on the Gold Coast, Matthew has an innate understanding of the local natural environment, history and climate. Experience abroad in the UK and the Netherlands has provided Matthew with a deep understanding of and appreciation for quality urban settings.
